Linn County Home Repair Program

Does your home need repair?

If so, the WHNS Home Repair Program may be able to help!

This program helps low to moderate income homeowners make necessary repairs to their home by offering loans with 0% interest, 0% APR and no payments.

Do I qualify?

  • To qualify for a Home Repair Loan you must be a low to moderate income homeowner. To see if you income qualify use the table located on the Preliminary Assessment form at the bottom of this page.
  • The home must be located within Linn County excluding the city of Albany.
  • If manufactured home, you must own the land the home sits on and the home must be on a permanent foundation.
  • Your home cannot be a duplex.

Rehabilitation loan funds can be used to:

  • Repair a home to a safe, healthy, and descent condition
  • Repair or replace items to reduce maintenance and operating costs
  • Adapt a home for accessibility

Typical Repair items include:

  • Foundation
  • Septic or plumbing
  • Roof and gutters
  • Window or Siding
  • Electrical
  • Ramp construction or barrier removal
  • Furnace or heating equipment

How does the loan work?

  • No interest is charged on the loan and fees are typically less than $400. The fees are included in the loan amount, so there is no money out of your pocket.
  • Loans have a 30 year term
  • Loans are recorded as a Lien against your property
  • Home Repair Loans are funded with Federal Community Development Block Grant Funds.
  • Loans are repayable when the house is sold, the house changes ownership, or the owner no longer lives in the house.

In addition to providing home repair loans, we also provide you with:

  • An evaluation of your home to determine needed repairs
  • Assistance in finding and securing a contractor to perform the work
  • Inspections of contractors work
