We can help homeowners who:
- Are residents of Linn County, Benton County or Lincoln County
- Anticipate not being able to make consistent mortgage payments
- Have already become delinquent on their mortgage
- Have an auction date or have been served with a Summons
Foreclosure Prevention Counseling
Willamette Neighborhood Housing Services is no longer taking new clients or cases for foreclosure prevention counseling. We are referring all new or returning clients in our service area to NEDCO (Neighborhood Economic Development Corp.) for assistance. Mortgage Payment Assistance
Oregon Homeownership Stabilization Initiative offers a mortgage payment assistance program called Home Rescue. This program is for people experiencing a long-term hardship, keeping them from being able to make their monthly mortgage payment. Accepted applicants may have their mortgage paid in full for one full year, plus have any arrearages up to $15k brought current. Applicants must be able to illustrate a sustained loss of income of 10% or more in the last 6 years. WNHS acts as the intake agent for this program in Linn, Benton and Lincoln counties. Loan Preservation Assistance
Another program offered by OHSI, the LPA program will make a single balloon payment to bring you current on your 1st position mortgage, back property taxes or funds owed for charges owed to your reverse mortgage servicer. This program is available to applicants in Linn, Benton or Lincoln county who have the ability to make their monthly payments, but have experienced a hardship that has put them behind and unable to catch up. OregonHomeownerSupport.gov is now working with Legal Aid Services of Oregon to help provide direct legal assistance and pro bono referrals for low income Oregon homeowners and tenants faced with foreclosure-related legal problems. Legal Aid will be able to assist some income-eligible borrowers and tenants directly, while others may be referred for reduced or sliding scale fee services. The range of services provided extends from limited advice to ongoing representation in foreclosure proceedings.
Borrowers and tenants can call the toll-free statewide intake line at 1-855-412-8828 (or in the Portland metro area call 503-227-0198) to speak with an intake specialist. Please note that the intake line is not staffed by attorneys and the intake specialist cannot give legal advice. Your case will be screened for acceptance after you have called the intake line.The intake line is open from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Intake staff can assist borrowers in English and Spanish, and can also assist borrowers in other languages by using phone-based interpretation services
